Job Description

Great Ecology is looking to add an Environmental Scientist or Ecologist with a background in applied environmental science to our interdisciplinary team. You’ll be based in our San Diego office, but your work will encompass restoration and natural resource management projects throughout the United States. This position is for a recent post-graduate student or intermediate associate and will require initiative, attention to detail, and the abilities to learn quickly and work in assembled teams company wide. This is an ideal position for a smart, motivated individual who is passionate about ecological restoration and preference will be given to those candidates with experience in Natural Resource Damage practices.

Desired minimum qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Biogeochemistry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, or closely related field;
• Demonstrated ability to work with Environmental Analytics & Modeling, Environmental Forensics, Geographic Information Systems, or related data-centric technical area;
• 1+ year of relevant experience assessing, planning, permitting, and/or implementing projects addressing environmental issues through a restoration-based framework.

Candidates must also demonstrate some combination of the following: 

• Critical thinking with creative problem-solving skills and experience contributing towards complex short and long-term environmental group projects;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present scientific solutions to stakeholders in a clear, professional manner;
• Proficiency in providing detail-oriented quality assurance and quality control;
• Independent resourcefulness to investigate issues and recommend possible solutions; and
• Flexibility to work well independently and in a team environment.
